   "An Evening for Janell". Miss Idaho International 2009 Courtney Conner lost her mother to cancer 6 weeks after winning her title. This years 2011 Idaho International Queens Platforms are all ACS related, so it will there will be many more events, appearances  & increasing awareness ofthe American Cancer Society and all that it does.

   With the theme of celebrating cancer survivors and remembering those lost to cancer, the JWConner Foundation and Rick's Press Room are hosting the second annual "An Evening for Janell" memorial benefit on Thursday, Aug. 19.


Festivities start at 5:30 p.m. at Generations Plaza at the corner of Idaho and Main streets in Meridian. The evening is designed to bring together those who have been touched by cancer. Live music will be provided by The Radicals, The Dakota Mad Band, and The Retreads. Rick's Pressroom Grill will serve food and drinks. There will be a silent auction as well as a raffle.


The goal is to raise $10,000 for the American Cancer Society, Relay for Life, the JWConner Foundation, and to help fund Janell's son Clayton Conner's college education.


The American Cancer Society and Relay for Life raise community awareness of prevention and detection of cancer and services for those currently battling the disease, while raising funds in the fight for the cure.

Founded in honor of Janell Wood Conner, the JWConner Foundation strives to inspire hope for individuals and families who are victims of cancer-related illnesses.
